How to Get There

Driving

Pormpuraaw is an approximate 8 hour drive from Cairns in Far North Queensland. There are also wonderful places to also visit along the way such as Mareeba, Lakeland and Laura. During the wet season (January to May) the Peninsula Development Road is limited to vehicles below 5 Tonne. The road from Musgrave to Pormpuraaw is sometimes closed during the wet season.

Flying

Flights to Pormpuraaw are operated by Skytrans and Hinterland Aviation.

Transport

A vehicle is not generally required to move about the town. However should you wish to enjoy the scenic lifestyle that the Cape York Peninsula has to offer then a four wheel drive and a boat are a necessity.
